Free Air Asia Tickets - ADEX 2006

December 7th, 2005

Air Asia is simply amazing … after the second Bali Bomb they donated 5,000 free seats to Bali in an effort to promote regional tourism to the island. Now they are giving away 2,000,000 free seats spread over every flight to all of their destinations. Tickets can be booked from 7-28 December, and travel from February-October 2006. Never one to let such an opportunity pass, we thought, let’s do it… Read more … »

The New Shower

November 10th, 2005

Home to KSDC HQ, we often host Kapal Selam members at the hut for a night or two or three. So most club members from outside Bali are aware of the hut’s limitations, um… I mean charms… (We lovingly refer to our house as the “hut sweet hut”).

Anyway, for our wedding present, select Kapal Selam members (we never received a list- but we are eternally grateful) decided to chip in and get us a really great present. Lala was in charge. Since we lost two dogs in the last year, she originally proposed that they buy us three (that’s right, THREE) weimaraner/doberman puppies. Thank god she asked us first. The more I read about them, the more I was sure that this would not be a gift, but a curse. Trying to break the news gently (but firmly) I begged Lala not to do it.

She came back with a second proposal- a new shower stall for our bathroom. As most members had occasion to shower at our place, they all knew that our existing shower stall was falling apart. They further knew that Hengky and I would probably never get around to doing anything about it. The perfect present.

Bali Photo Hunting 2005

October 23rd, 2005

Commandant: Amadeus Bonaventura
Vice-Commandant: Yoga Raharja

The October 2005 FN Hunting Series will run from Friday, 21 October, to Sunday, 23 October 2005. We hope that during these three days, we can help all the FN participants to explore and record Bali from several perspectives: cultural, landscape and human interest.

As a note, because the program begins on Friday morning, we expect all participants from outside Bali to arrive on Thursday. Further, to facilitate coordination, we have booked rooms at a hotel in Sanur for Thursday night; this ensures that participants are not rushed and only need to wake up, grab their cameras and walk to the beach to take sunrise photos Friday morning.

Assuming that the participants from outside Bali will be arriving on different flights, we are not offering airport to hotel transfers. But don’t worry, there are taxis at the airport and it is a quick ride to Sanur.

Bali Bomb II

October 20th, 2005

Unfortunately enough we are more connected to the latest wave of terror in Bali then any of the previous incidents, but luckily we are all safe and sound.

On Saturday October 1, 2005 we were invited to a wedding party in Jimbaran. It was a beautiful garden party in a private villa set right on the beach. Surprisingly I found a dress that fit (thank god for stretchy fabrics). We arrived about 7 pm, just as the bride and groom were making their entrance. Needless to say, the bride, Julia, was stunningly beautiful and her groom, Andreas, was looking equally dashing.

Sunday in Ubud

October 17th, 2005

Sunday is family day and we are always trying to devise new ways to make Gregor, our three year old son, happy. The trick is not so much in entertaining him, but in keeping ourselves entertained, too. And while shooting arcade bad guys at the mall makes him happy, it tends to drive me insane.

So, Sunday October 16, 2005 in Ubud.
Our friends Mia and Tom were taking Paulus from Jakarta up to Ubud for culinary delights. We decided to join them after exhausting our list of Sunday chores (including buying a new shower at ACE- a belated wedding present from the Kapal Selam gang- thanks guys!)
