Gavin Rama Dotulong Video

Sebastian Chan, famed director of short form videos, produced and directed this epic starring Gavin and Hengky Dotulong: An Idiot’s Guide to Baby Wrapping

Haven’t heard of baby wrapping? It’s a form of swaddling, whereby the baby is wrapped (much like a burrito) into a blanket or cloth to make an easily transported bundle (of joy, of course).

Starring Hengky (Papa) and Gavin (Baby) Dotulong, with cameo appearances by Thea (Mommy) and Emily (cinematographer’s daughter), The Idiot’s Guide to Baby Wrapping introduces new parents to the art of burrito baby making.

The events depicted in the video were inspired by new father (Robert Ottilie) to improve his baby wrangling and handling. (He was too nervous to pick up, let alone wrap his daughter Samantha). Though Samantha is only five days younger than Gavin, Robert’s swaddling left much to be desired.

Seasoned father Hengky hoped to remedy this by introducing Robert to the art of baby burrito making. Having perfected his technique with now three and a half year old Gregor, Hengky can truly be called an expert in the sport. Robert and Samantha are not pictured here to spare their embarassment.

The video introduces all of the main characters, showing Gavin neatly wrapped and swaddled like a little football. Hengky then demonstrates the baby wrapping technique, easily hoisting Gavin into the air (GO LONG)…

Once again hats off to Sebastian Chan- you’ve done it again SEB… another fine production!

Ha, this is the ‘famed director’ himself. Your narrative certainly makes the video more interesting than it looks. And I know Hengky is still complaining about the title of the short movie – but the title itself is a true complement to his superb skill!!
Hope to do another one after we visit again in a few months’ time.

what an art, and Hengky…truly an artist! both in the form of a baby burrito and as himself, gavin is a beautiful sight…I will keep the last frame of the video in my head. Mommey, daddy and Gavin, sealed with a kiss on the forehead! I want more videos!

    hey dotulong family,

i was trying to watch the video but it was taking waaayyy to long to download, so i will just have to imagine.

Heather and I were commenting today about the fact that we need to do another local dive trip… we havent been in the water since diving with you guys in bali!!

today we went to the Newport Beach Film Festival, it was fun because patties short documentary about a hospital in Ethiopia was accepted into the film festival, so it was neat to see it on the big screen with people being able to vote for it to get a reward.

anyways, hope things are going well for you guys. my dad is going to be heading down to bali sometime in the near future because Patty wanted him to pick some decorations or something for her wedding. well talk to you later.

    Hey you guys!
Loved the baby burrito! Cute! So nice to see you all…even if it is through video. Gavin is soooo cute! He reminds me of my brother. (Not that I knew my brother when he was a newborn…but you get the picture.) :) I wish I could go over and visit! But, like Brian said, our dad will be in your direction before the tourist season, so pretty soon. Oh yeah, I have a date for the wedding…September 9! I’m finishing up our little website and will give you the address. It’s one of those things you can do for free at theknot.com. Anyway, I hope I get to see you guys really soon!!
    Luv,
    Patty

  6. Hengky Dotulong Says:

Wow… Great Patty, Congratulations on the film in the festival and, of course, the wedding! Let us know if there’s anything you need from here – we can help your Dad find the decorations. What kind of wedding? I guess we’ll have to wait for the website to find out…

Come back and dive with us anytime… until then I guess you’ll have to brave the coooold waters of California!

  7. Patty Says:

    Hey Hengky!

Thanks for the Congrats! The film actually won an award, too! I was really surprised. Anyway, I’m sending out a Save-the-Date wedding e-mail and was thinking…what’s Hengky and Thea’s e-mail address? Can you e-mail it to me? But, for the time being…you and Thea can check out the website! It’s
    http://www.kentandpatricia.com

Also, thank you for offering to help with decorations! I asked my dad to get some cool stuff from Bali, like 125 small photo albums (for wedding favors); bamboo table runners; and if possible wedding invitations. I’m not sure if there’s an artist who makes that kind of stuff. :)

Oh yeah, can you also e-mail me your mailing address? Termia Kasih!

Miss you guys and can’t wait to visit again! Of course, you guys are always welcome over here in California! But the diving isn’t as good….
    patty :)
