Kubu Dive Site
DIVING BALI - KUBU DIVE SITES
Kubu is a small village located in North East Bali, is about 3 hours driving from the capital city of Bali, Denpasar and about 30 minutes driving heading to North from the famous Tulamben diving area. Still not many diving center in Bali offering this site for their diving safari Trip or daily diving trip, unless their dive center is located near the area.
It is not like Tulamben area which are lots of divers stay and dive there. Kubu is more silent even there is a bungalow called Monkey Bungalow - Kubu. Directly located in front of that Kubu dive sites. It is own by Norwegian couple and offering room for Rp. 100.000 / night or about 12 $.The bungalow it self has a small swimming poll near the the stone beach with plenty of rooms.
I think they need to creating more marketing things to have more guess for their bungalows. They own a really great location for divers, quiet, swimming pool, nice room, beach front, reliable price, clean and very easy dive as this is a shore dive from in front of their bungalow.
To reach this site, divers also can rent Jukung ( Traditional Boat ) from Tulamben, it will cost Rp. 20.000 ($ 2.5 ) and take about 20 minutes. This Jukung doesn’t have any roof, so it is good to apply sun block lotions before riding it.
For my self I prefer taking my car, drive there and park the car near Kubu Monkey Bungalow. While you get there some porters service will coming, load your dive gear and tanks to the beach. It’s only cost about Rp.5.000 ( $ 0.6 ) per diver.
In this Kubu dive area, there are 2 dive spots. We just call it Right reef and Left reef, Those two dive spots is not much different, both area have a small corals reef but very healthy. No anchor from the boat is dropped here. The corals it’s start from 10 meters until 45 meters depth. There are some Pygmy sea horse favorite sea fans down there. I found about 4 Pygmy sea horse over there. The Van color is purple to white, lay down at 27 meters depth.
Beside that you will find lots of Octopuses, Cuttle fishes, nudibranches or sea slugs, and some angler fishes. Other fishes is Bat fish, Angel fish, Trigger fish, and more.

If I’m not mistaken, Monkey Bungalow is owned by a couple from Chekozlovakia. Or maybe now it is sold to Norwegian?
